Mobile network research company Open Signal released the latest research results on the top 10 countries in the world that have the highest 5G download speeds .
The report reveals the results of an analysis of the 5G user experience of all mobile operators in various countries, including regions in Asia (excluding China), Europe, the Middle East and North America.
The country with the fastest 5G turns out to be Saudi Arabia, which recorded an average download speed of more than 400 Mbps. The 5G speed in Saudi Arabia is recorded at 14.3 times higher than the 4G download speed in that country which is 28.9 Mbps.
After that in succession are South Korea, Australia, Taiwan and Canada. Here are the top 10 countries with the fastest average 5G download speeds, as compiled by KompasTekno from Gizchina , Wednesday (9/9/2020).
1. Saudi Arabia
Commercial 5G services have been present in Saudi Arabia since June 2019 through mobile operator STC Group, which is rolling it out for the first time in a number of cities. The average 5G download speed in this country reaches 414.2 Mbps.
2. South Korea
South Korea is the first country in the world to open 5G cellular services. On April 3, 2019. At that time, three cellular operators, namely SK Telecom Co., KT Corp., and LG Uplus Corp, inaugurated their respective 5G networks in a number of cities.
The country of Ginseng is in second place regarding the download speed of 5G, with an average number of 312.7 Mbps or 5.3 times faster than 4G.
Although the commercialization of 5G in Australia began in 2019, currently only 10 cities have the network, including Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra and the Gold Coast. The average 5G download speed in Australia is 215.7 Mbps.
The commercialization of 5G in Taiwan is still young, only starting in the last few months. Mobile operator Far EasTone (FET) launched commercial 5G services in July 2020 in a number of cities. The average 5G download speed in Taiwan reaches 210.2 Mbps.
Not much different from Taiwan, 5G in Canada is only a few months old. 5G will only be commercialized this year. In terms of overall average download speed, Canada’s 5G network clocks in at 178.1 Mbps.
The 5G network has actually started to be present in the Middle East region since 2018, but Kuwait only caught up in June 2019. The country in sixth place regarding 5G download speed posted an average figure of 171.5 Mbps.
Switzerland is one of the first countries to start implementing commercial 5G in 2019. Three mobile operators in the country, Salt, Sunrise and Swisscom, provide 5G services. The average 5G download speed in Switzerland is 150.7 Mbps.
8. Hong Kong
The commercialization of 5G in Hong Kong is considered relatively young and has only been active this year, to be precise on April 1, 2020, through cellular operators HKT, Hutchison 3, and China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK). Hong Kong’s 5G download speeds reached 142.8 Mbps on average.
The UK was one of the earliest countries to commercialize 5G networks, initiated by the two carriers EE and Vodafone. Now, the four mobile operators in the UK all offer 5G services, although the coverage is not yet extensive.
The average 5G download speed in the UK is 133.5 Mbps.
5G services are currently available in more than 1,000 cities and an estimated 40 million Germans are already using the 5G network. 5G networks have spread widely in major cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne and Frankfurt. However, in terms of download speed, Germany’s 5G is in tenth position globally with an average of 102.0 Mbps.
